Carolyn Simmons was born in Clayton, GA and grew up in Demorest, GA.
“Crazy artistic women are rampant in my family. My mother was an art teacher, artist, and musician. I started playing with clay in 2001 and knew it was the medium for me. I started out making more functional pieces but currently make both functional and non-functional with a twist. I also like to create sculptures. Most of my work carries a theme or story. I have an interest in the old-time ways of living and that seems to be in many pieces as well as animals, farm life, fairy tales or whatever the mood strikes on that particular day. I like for people to laugh and have fun with my pottery because I sure have fun making it.”
