Cindy Teyro

The entire Teyros Collection of tableware art is designed and created by Cindy Teyro in her studio in La Mesa, California. All pieces are either pinched and/or hand formed.

After a twenty year career as a doll designer specializing in product development, I needed to change my life direction. On a whim I signed up for a clay class, bought a ceramic book and a block of clay. Three sessions later the class was finished and my new direction was established--playing with mud pies. In a few weeks my style of tableware art was emerging--Alice in Wonderland meets Dr. Seuss.

A few years ago while working in my booth at the BMAC in Philadelphia I was approached by a fellow ceramic artist who was working on a ceramic book and asked if I would like to submit pictures of my work for inclusion in the project. I was to include my philosophy, exploration of the design development, elemental qualities, visual challenges, etc. I grasped the gentleman by the shoulders, turned him to face my booth and asked him “Does this look like the work of someone with deep thoughts?” As for my philosophy it is very simple. I love what I do and do what I love.- Cindy
