Sometime in 2012 Randy attended an auction in Asheville, NC that featured a large collection of face jugs by Albert Hodge, Michel Bayne, Meaders and many others. He was fascinated by the incredible creations and purchased close to 15 Albert Hodge pieces. He was inspired to delve into creating his own pottery monsters.
While living in Marion, NC, Randy began his pottery making journey with a very small kiln and an ancient wheel. In 2013 he had the opportunity to purchase 4 acres with a house in Vale, NC. There, he built his pottery studio and moved through several sizes of kilns until he settled into a large commercial kiln that allows him to create large scale projects. He works with stoneware clay and currently creates a series of tiki jugs.
