My mixed media figures begin with hand building techniques in stoneware clay. I use a variety of finishes that include underglaze, latex and prismacolor. I frequently assemble them with both found and sculpted objects that further the message. - Nancy Kubale-Wicker
Presented here is "Red", one of a group of ladies titled "Primary Colors." Allow me to ramble a moment. One of the things I love about Nancy's figures is that just the slightest movement of the piece presents another aspect of the woman depicted - like a real person. You can see what I mean by looking at the photos I have taken of the face area by just changing the level from which I took the photo, or slightly turning the piece. I'll quit talking now and let the photos speak for themselves.
Measures 22" tall from base to top of head (not including the accessories). The measurement from elbow to elbow is 8". The base is 5.25" x 5.25". In the event you might be interested in purchasing the ladies as a group, please contact us and we'll make a group offer.
FULL DISCLOSURE - PLEASE READ
Somehow - one of the "spikes" at the top of the woman's head broke off during transit. It in no way diminishes the appeal or look of the piece, but I need you to know. I saved it, and think it looks kind neat placed on the base - kind of like no one's perfect. But in recognition of this, I've reduced the price on this piece to reflect the mishap.
The words on the back body represent Nancy's random thoughts on the color and are:
the color of
blood & danger,
scarlet sin,
red light
passion,
crimson
love.
the color
of my
favorite
clay
