The American Chestnut Tree was hit by a blight in the early 1900âs. We have taken old chestnut split rail fences from the Mountains of North Carolina and recycled them into works of art, such as vases and lamps, by turning them on the lathe. We like to keep a selection of Walnut Hill's vases. Since the material used to create these vases originate from split rail fences built over 100 years ago and have experienced nature's elements; wind, rain, and sun, no two will ever be alike. But each are full of character and you can't help but reach out and touch. The wall vases were made with the intention for wall hanging, but they also stand on their own - which would make its placement in a tight corner feasible. The wood is in its natural state, with only the top turned. Each have a glass insert to hold water and a flower. But we like them because they have the look of sculpture. Small wall vases average 9" tall and about 1-1.25" deep. Widths range from 3" - 4". Detail photos show how individual they are. If you would like to choose your own, then we invite you to visit.
