William A. Flowers is a self-taught artist from North Carolina. He began making functional pottery in 1969 after building his first potters wheel using an old truck axle, odd metal parts and a bag of cement – his earliest wood firing experience nearly set his cabin on fire! Now after years of trial, error, and endless experimentation, William has changed the face of Southern Folk Art. Together the Flowers family continues a long-standing southern folk art pottery tradition and drags it screaming towards fantastic modern extremes.
